ABC WA Premier Colin Barnett says there is no evidence the terrorism threat applies to the state.

There is no evidence to suggest a terrorism threat that led to huge raids in two eastern states applied to WA, Premier Colin Barnett says.

However, amid allegations Islamist extremists were plotting to carry out “demonstration killings” in Australia, Mr Barnett urged West Australians to remain calm, but alert.

“There’s no evidence of any terror threat in Western Australia … but that doesn’t mean you relax in any regard,” he said.

“I think there’s a high level of vigilance and I would just caution people just to take a little bit more care.”

He said a “different type” of terrorist threat had emerged.

“We’ve seen those dreadful images of people being executed in Syria and so on, so it’s a different type of terrorist threat now,” he said.

“Maybe targeting individual people, at random even, but people should not over react to that, I think just take normal precautionary measures, be alert.”

The comments come as a Facebook page set up in the name of Perth Islamic preacher attacked the actions of police and the Federal Government, calling for Allah to “destroy those who plot against us”.

Junaid Thorne, an Australian citizen involved with a group called Millatu Ibrahim Perth, was deported from Saudi Arabia last year after protesting his brother’s imprisonment.
